What a marvelous Ahna’s Angels concert! The students did a great job. Their precious voices are such a blessing! Thank you for coming to hear us!
Please, please encourage your child to review High Frequency Words nightly. If your child doesn’t know a word, please make flashcards. I am experiencing students who are having trouble reading the HFW words. Remember, these words are not to be sounded out but to be memorized and read without hesitation.
Also, we are working hard on reading fluency. Repeated readings are a good way to improve fluency and increase comprehension. For this reason, I will occasionally send home short stories for repeated readings. It is perfectly fine for students to read the same book several times.
Students are doing a fabulous job with our calendar math. It is amazing how much learning occurs during our calendar math. Students are learning so many skills and concepts from this 20-30 minute daily lesson. The calendar math notebooks are a hit!
Next week is HOMECOMING! The students love to participate in the special dress-up days. Here is a look at each theme day:
Monday --Crayon Day: Dress in one color from top to bottom.
Tuesday -- Book Character Day: Dress as your favorite character from your favorite book.
Wednesday --Wear your regular uniform, crazy hair or crazy hat
Thursday --College Day: Wear uniform bottoms and your favorite college T-shirt.
Friday -- Homecoming Spirit Day: Homecoming T-shirt or any Trinity shirt with jeans or uniform bottoms
The Homecoming parade will be at 11:15 Friday. After the parade, we will come in the room to vote for our favorite float, then we will be dismissed for lunch with our parents. If you want to order the Wildcat lunch, please send your form by Tuesday, October 18. Sage will not be serving lunch that day, so you will need to bring your own lunch if you don't order for our picnic.
Along with the excitement next week, we will have a full academic week. Here is a look at our week:
Reading -- 2 for 1's (sh, ch, th, wh), drawing conclusions
Language -- telling sentences and asking sentences ;We will be starting our Daily Edit next week. I will grade the paper, but I will not count it in my grade book. We will use this first week as a practice.
Math -- fact families, ordinal numbers
Science -- liquids
Bible -- Joseph memory verse: review
Blessings!
