Science, Math, and Social Studies

We are always having a blast in first grade.  We have been studying plants in Science.  The students used play-doh to design their own plants and dry erase markers to label the plant parts on their desks.

We have been studying Communities in Social Studies.  The students created a community with a neighborhood, shops, transportation, and work places.  We had a ball!

Students used cooperative learning to sort math facts according to their differences.  Some facts were "tricky" when we had to pay special attention to the equal sign.  However, these firsties KNOW their math!

First Grade Happenings

We have been busy in room 110!  The students loved the notes on their desks from Open House.  The students were full of smiles and joy as they read their notes from you.  What a way to start our Friday!

Students have begun reading rotations and learning to work in small groups.  They are learning to stay on tasks and work independently.  I am so proud of these firsties.

We are enjoying our Science unit on plants.  We are learning the plant parts and their jobs.  We planted sunflower seeds and were amazed how fast they have started growing.  First grade is full of eager scientists!

We had many snaggle tooth firsties on picture day.  However, that didn't change their precious smiles.    These school pictures willl be a treasure in years to come.
