IXL and Math Practice

First grade is such a happy place! I love spending each day with these precious children!

We had the high school Service Class visit our classroom last week to help us with IXL. I wish you could have seen the excitement on their faces as these high school students came to help us. I think they loved it as much as the first graders.

Although it was a short week, these students worked extra hard with subtraction.  I am so proud of them.

What's New in First Grade?

The students are doing a great job taking AR tests.  Many students have already met their first nine weeks mini AR goal.  I am so proud of the students.
We have enjoyed studying Science and completing our first "Dancing Raisin Experiment." I am always in awe of their love of learning and natural curiosity to know more.
We have started our reading rotations and small groups.  The students are learning to work independently at literacy centers while I have the opportunity to work with small groups at the reading table.  I love this small group time where we can focus on reading skills and reading fluency.  I'm pretty sure they love it as much as I do!
Thank you for helping us get our year started with a BANG!
