50th Day of School

50th Day of School

No better way to celebrate the 50th Day of School than in 50's style.  Students dressed in poodle skirts, saddle shoes, jeans, white t-shirts, leather jackets, and slicked back hair.  We incorporated math by counting and writing numbers to 50; skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s; matching and writing double facts of fries and hamburgers; and sorting records of numbers less than and greater than 50.  Language Arts was explored through writing steps for making coke floats, writing stories comparing 50's kids with today's kids, and sorting 50's word cards in ABC order.  Social Studies was a part of our day by comparing "then" and "now" with a Venn Diagram.  We looked at pictures from the fifties and now to compare.  Cruising through the 50 first days of school was a hit!
Angel Choir Sings at Holiday Market

What a blessing these Angels were to others as they sang at the Holiday Market.  Traveling on the "BIG BUS" was an added privilege for us.  The students did a fabulous job!

Daddy Field Trip

We were blessed with a beautiful day for the Daddy Field Trip.  We wrapped up our animal unit in class by preparing Animal Reports.  The students chose an animal to research and prepared a report using pebblego on the computers.  The students shared their reports with their dads before departing for the zoo.  The students enjoyed spending time with their dads and completing an Animal Scavenger Hunt.  Students got to have lunch in the room when we returned.  It was a great morning!
