Glow Games

We had a fabulous day using glow games to reinforce our weekly skills.  The students were surprised when they entered the room this morning and realized they were glowing.  The decided early that it was going to be "the BEST day ever." 

Student were engaged with literacy stations that reinforced the "short o" skills while listening to spy music.  Literacy centers included: creating spelling words with glowing wiki sticks, tic-tac-toe with math facts, making high frequency words with neon play dough, phoenmic awareness with glowing highlighters, questions and exclamations using neon pom-poms, and making short o words with Lite-Brites.  The students couldn't wait to get to all of the centers.  I loved their sweet comments, "This is the BEST day ever, Mrs. Etheredge!"

Learning is FUN!

We are having the best time learning in first grade.  We are learning about all kinds of things in first grade.  We have been studying plants in Science.  The students have learned the parts of the plant and their jobs.  We planted seeds and have enjoyed watching them grow.
The students are doing a fabulous job in reading rotations.  They are learning to work in small groups, peer learning, and independently.  I am so proud of these fabulous firsties!!  It is a JOY to teach them daily.
