50th Day of School

We had a blast from the past as we celebrated the 50th day of school.  The students were precious in their 50's attire.  We enjoyed 50's music, games, and learning about the past.  The students compared and contrasted kids of the 50's and present.  We made venn diagrams, wrote comparison stories, and enjoyed coke floats.  Students wrote coke float recipes, made a 50's book, and competed against the 50 second timer to see how many activities they could complete in 50 seconds.  The center activities revolved around the 50's theme and students enjoyed ABC order, less than and greater than, addition facts, and double facts.  What a great learning day and the students had a blast with it!

What a beautiful day!  The students enjoyed a day at the zoo seeing  God's amazing works.  Thank you to those who helped make our day fun with many memories.

Johnny Appleseed Day

Johnny Appleseed Day

We had a great day celebrating Johnny Appleseed's birthday.  Thank you for sending the apples for our applesauce.  Thank you to Mrs. Byrd and Mrs. Wells for helping us prepare our applesauce.  The day was full of apple stories, facts, writing, math, learning centers, and tasting.  As I was listening to the students interacting I couldn't help but smile.  They were learning so much by simply working with one another.  It was a great day at the Friendly Frog Pad!

First grade is such a wonderful place.  I absolutely love spending each day with these precious children!!  We are having a great time and learning so much in first grade.   The month of August has been busy, fun, and rewarding.  The students have been busy learning reading skills, adding and subtracting, playing math games, and sharing stories they have written.  Sarah Beth brought an awesome bird's nest to share and Jaycie brought our first Estimation Jar with 101 kisses!!!  We had a blast counting and estimating.  I hope that you enjoy an inside look at what's going on in First Grade!

First Day 2014-2015

Hats off to these brand new firsties!  We had a fabulous day in First Grade.  I am looking forward to a fabulous year with this group.  They are a blessing!

We had a great time at the Biscuits game.  A big thanks to the parent drivers.  The students enjoyed dancing with Big Mo and eating lunch at the game.  What a fabulous end to our baseball unit.
